1. Is the paediatric practice public or private?
In Slovenia, the majority of care is public, especially the tertiary care and all hospital care. However there are some private outpatient clinics, covering approximately 10 % of all children, aged 0-19 years.
2. Is it mandatory?
It is not mandatory as there are some GP taking care of children but the
majority is (still?) in the hands of paediatricians. However there is a quite aggressive attempt from the GP to take it over.
3. Is the paediatric practice only confided to paediatrician or can a general practitioner take it in charge?
GPs or Family Doctors can take in charge and do take in charge the paediatric practice but no more than around 10 %. Also during the emergency time (between 7 pm and 7 am) as there is no complete coverage for paediatric emergency services in the country.
